Inauguration of Therrestra Laboratory of Construction Materials and Soil Mechanics – PUCMM

A new materials laboratory will train hundreds of engineering students in Santiago. This internship space that will be at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra sees the light thanks to the inter-institutional collaboration agreement between said House of Higher Studies and Constructora Therrestra, a company that seeks to facilitate the preparation of university talent and adapt it to the needs of the market. current job.

This laboratory will be used by hundreds of future civil engineers, who each year will receive practices and training in compaction, asphalt and concrete; as well as for aggregate storage and drying. A classroom that will provide students with the necessary knowledge for the correct execution and interpretation of test methods in the different areas of construction in accordance with existing regulations. "Therrestra is proud that these students improve their academic training in a safe, modern space that is adapted to the competitiveness of the international market," explained engineer Hugo Pérez Ovallles, president of Therrestra.

The inaugural meeting of this space was led by the presbyter doctor Alfredo de la Cruz Baldera, rector of the PUCMM, and the engineer Hugo Pérez Ovalles, president of Therrestra, representatives of the Madre y Maestra Foundation, members of the Board of Directors , academic directors, teachers and students of civil engineering.

This work, designed by the architect Óscar Almanzar, in charge of Physical Planning for the Mother and Teacher and built by the company Cimet Constructora SRL, has an approximate construction area of 156.28 square meters, and a first-class building with a structure dual system.
